Fragments of a Vanishing Forest

  • #204 High Street Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand (map)

Fragments of a Vanishing Forest is a contemporary art exhibition by Chilean artist, Pía Aldana, exploring the relationship between biodiversity, memory, identity and our connection to the natural world.

Through sculptural ceramics, the exhibition brings attention to native species and the delicate relationships that sustain life. Inspired by the beauty, fragility and versatility of clay, the works capture fragments of a landscape that is gradually vanishing, inviting us to pause and consider the species and ecosystems we are losing.

The exhibition reflects on how deeply the natural world is woven into our cultural memory and sense of place and how the intricate balance of coexistence is disrupted as biodiversity declines.

At a time of unprecedented loss, Fragments of a Vanishing Forest is both a reflection on what is disappearing and a call to recognise, value and preserve the living heritage that surrounds us.
