I am a classical impressionist and love to capture the essential beauties from life with brush works and tone.

When sunlight creates diamond sparkles on the water and wind plays a melody on the golden field, Autumn creates the most powerful colour before a long winter sleep, my brush work gets exciting to record the moments.

Exhibition "Joy" is my expression and appreciation of life.

Our watercolour group is a gathering of people interested in learning and creating with watercolour paints.

The Monday morning and afternoon groups provide a space for artists of all skill levels to connect, share ideas, learn from each other and develop our painting techniques through workshops, painting days, and exhibitions where we showcase our work.


Beyond the artistic aspect, our watercolour groups also provide social opportunities, allowing members to connect with like-minded individuals and build friendships.

And that’s what we are a bunch of talented friends that splash about with water and pigments.

We’re delighted to announce the return of our ever-popular Members’ Autumn Exhibition, showcasing a vibrant collection of work from our talented artists – with all artworks available for sale.

We’re honoured to have Joanna Dudson-Scott, one of our esteemed patrons, as this year’s judge. She’ll be awarding five prizes, thanks to generous support from The Drawing Room, Christchurch.

Watercolour New Zealand is 50 years old this year, and to mark the milestone it has chosen Blenheim as its venue for some major events.

There is an exhibition preview on Thursday 17th April that will be open throughout Easter and until 5th May.

Over 50 watercolour artists from around New Zealand will be painting between 2nd and 5th May and a major international artist, Hazel Soan, will be teaching and exhibiting. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase this wonderful medium in our gallery, and to celebrate with Watercolour New Zealand.

Tamara Jansen is originally from a picturesque republic of Bashkortostan, Urals in Russia.

Since she was a child she has been fascinated with nature how water flows, how wind blows, how fire moves and the patterns they create. So visually art has been a part of her entire life. Tamara feels blessed that they decided to come to live in New Zealand - beautiful New Zealand sparked her own creativity. She has worked with many different mediums in her art and loves all of them.

Tamara likes to add texture and elements into her pieces as it makes them take on a whole new form.

She uses mixed mediums, sometimes multi-layered to create textured 3-dimensional works on canvasses and boards. Tamara’s personal preference is colourfulness and this collection is based on this vision. Forget the demure, these creations burst with texture, energy and life!

Tamara’s art allows you to explore movement and depth and will leave a dramatic statement on anybody's wall. She would like collectors to see the beauty in her work and for it to take them to another place of newness and revisit the child like joy of being surprised!

Please note: if you are wishing to enter this exhibition we request you submit an Expression of Interest by Monday 10th March advising whether you will be entering 1 or 2 pieces and their approximate sizes. This will help us to ensure we have the necessary space and resources for a successful exhibition. Should we receive a large number of entries, it may be necessary to limit each artist to exhibiting only one piece and to also restrict the number of large artworks to ensure we can accommodate as many artists as possible. Please don’t let this limit your number of intended entries though - we will keep you fully informed.

The exhibition will be primarily the wood carvings and sculptures of Paul Gunningham as a follow on to Paul’s 2023 3D Forms exhibition, and featuring all new works in a variety of timbers, styles and forms.

Sarah Gunningham will also exhibit some of her art works including coloured pencil drawing, quilting and bag making.

There will also be a display of creative works made by upcycling old books, and a few Piet Mondrian style paintings for good measure.

This exhibition will enchant a wide audience.

Kia Ora, my name is Laraine, I'm 38 years of age and currently reside in Feilding.

My photography journey started in 2023 visiting family in Canada and marvelling at snowflakes. Last year I completed the Introductory and Intermediate certificates at UCOL and discovered I am very passionate about black and white, minimalism, and macro photography.

This exhibition is inspired by and in honour of a friend who helped me through one of the hardest seasons of my life.

Thank you for holding me when no-one else knew how, hope I've made you proud.

A Moment In Time

a digital telling of Marlborough’s story; glancing back into the lives of those who call this home.

An exhibition showcasing a compilation of pieces created by the seniors of Marlborough telling their stories through digital art. Marlburians aged 65 years + have been getting creative, submitting independent works, and attending a variety of workshops that have been offered, learning to explore technology, recording and sharing snap shots of their stories and the lives that have built this region.

Prints, digital photos, audio and video will be displayed at this public event from 25th January - 9th February 2025.

This exhibition is open for entries from both members and non-members.

The theme will be something magic to do with a garden, flora, fauna or landscape setting in mediums such as painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, photography, 2D and 3D works. Artwork will be available for purchase during the exhibition.

We organise this exhibition to run alongside the Garden Marlborough weekend as artworks will have a 'garden' theme.

Hawaiki Hou (The new Hawaiki) is an exhibition that captures the transformative essence of the Hawaiki Kura wānanga. It offers an intimate glimpse into the collective journey of the Hawaiki Kura participants as they reclaim their cultural identity, heal, and connect with like-minded people. 

As we welcome the rising of Matariki, this exhibition reminds us of the profound power of mātauranga Māori to heal and empower our people as they set out to navigate new horizons.

The exhibition, curated by Kiley Nepia, will feature works from David James, Pene Aorere, and Keelan Walker.
